Warehouse Manager
Cowanna Almond Harvesting exists to enable the USA manufacturers (Flory Industries, Orchard Machinery Corporation (OMC) and Jackrabbit) to better support and provide a quality service to their customers in Australia. Cowanna has never lost sight of its priority to its growers.
Cowanna Almond Harvesting began as a small family business. Neale and Debbie work to establish a culture of family within the business where staff are supported, acknowledged, and encouraged.
Our point of difference is this culture which extends to our customers. We aim to provide customers with the parts, service and information they need at any time of the year.
The Warehouse Manager reports to the Parts Manager and fills a vital role in ensuring that Cowanna continues to provide exceptional support and service to its customers. The effective management of the warehouse staff and the work they complete is required to maintain the reputation that Cowanna has for quality service that is second to none in our industry.
Responsibility 1 – Oversee the operations of the warehouse
To ensure this happens, you will be expected to:
Oversee the general organisation of the Merbein warehouse
Maintaining strong communication with other Cowanna locations (Griffith & Loxton) and departments to ensure parts are available when required.
Investigate & implement efficient storage and retrieval systems
Ensure adequate supply of consumable items required.
Allocate parts locations using correct number sequence or parts styling groups and ensure that locations are recorded correctly and labelled clearly.
Participate in the complete inventory checks of all stock and supplies at least annually
Ensure warehouses are kept neat and tidy
Undertake periodical safety & maintenance checks on warehouse equipment
Report hazards and incidents including near misses or injuries immediately to management for action.
Responsibility 2 – Provide quality service regarding the provision of parts
To ensure this happens, you will be expected to:
Efficiently deal with customer enquiries
Pull parts in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner
Wrap and pack parts to ensure they are protected, safe and easily handled
Ensure delivery information and consignment notes are completed neatly and accurately
Ensure timely delivery/collection of parts to/by Freight companies
Ensure accurate record keeping of all parts leaving the warehouse. Ensure all back-order items are also recorded accurately.
Organise the receival of parts, including the unpacking of container, distribution to customers, ensuring that all paperwork associated with each order is accurate and attached to deliveries.
Advise manager of any discrepancies in supply of orders
Responsibility 3 – Liaise with all Cowanna departments to ensure that all warehouse operations are working effectively
To ensure this happens, you will be expected to:
Develop effective parts process in consultation with the parts team.
Ensure parts required for workshop jobs are pulled accurately, documented, and delivered promptly.
Ensure parts no longer required for jobs are returned to stock.
Liaise with service manager regarding back-order items
Hold regular tool-box meetings to inform & update warehouse & other staff
Maintain open lines of communication to demonstrate that all opinions are valued and will be taken into consideration
Liaise with management regarding any proposed developments
Essential qualifications / licences
Driver’s licence
Licence to perform High Risk Work – in particular the ability to operate a Forklift.

Current First Aid
It is desirable that the Warehouse Manager possess the following:
A friendly, respectful manner
Communication skills including conflict resolution and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
Time management – including good organisational & planning skills and attention to detail
Team oriented approach – including the ability to mentor and inspire
A work ethic which reflects integrity, professionalism and a commitment to quality
Problem solving – providing flexible and creative solutions when required
Computer literacy including the use of spreadsheets, inventory systems software, email, on-line freight booking systems.
Willingness to travel from time to time with reasonable notice.
Ability to work outside business hours when required.
Strong commitment to safety, health and environment practices.
Able to pass a ‘Fit for Work’ assessment
