HR Truck Driver

About the role

ATA Steel (WA) PTY LTD is seeking an experienced HR Truck Driver to join our dynamic warehousing, storage and distribution operations based in Hope Valley, WA 6165. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our supply chain operations, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of steel and related products to our clients across Western Australia. As an HR Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating heavy rigid or articulated vehicles, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and upholding our commitment to on-time delivery whilst adhering to all relevant transport regulations and company policies.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate heavy rigid or articulated trucks safely and efficiently, transporting steel products and materials to designated locations across Western Australia

2. Conduct pre and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain comprehensive logs of all vehicle run sheets

3. Adhere strictly to all road safety regulations, speed limits, and fatigue management rules

4. Plan efficient routes to ensure timely delivery of goods whilst minimising fuel consumption and vehicle wear

5. Communicate professionally with clients, warehouse staff and management regarding delivery schedules, delays and any issues encountered

6. Maintain accurate delivery documentation, delivery dockets and logbooks as required by law

7. Secure and load cargo appropriately using proper techniques and equipment to prevent damage during transit

8. Comply with all health and safety policies and report any hazards, incidents or near-misses to management immediately

9. Maintain a professional appearance and represent ATA Steel (WA) PTY LTD positively to clients and the public

What we're looking for

1. Valid Heavy Rigid licence for Western Australia

2. Valid LF forklift license and minimum 1 year experience operation with heavy loads

3. Minimum 2 years' professional truck driving experience in warehousing, storage or distribution environment

4. Working knowledge of fatigue management legislation and commitment to safe driving practices

5. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

6. Reliability, punctuality and a safety-conscious mindset with attention to detail

7. Ability to perform manual tasks associated with loading and securing cargo with load restraint e.g. heavy straps and chains

8. Experience in steel or manufacturing and distribution is desirable but not essential
