As a key member of the ATSICHS Brisbane team, Our ATSICHS General Practitioner is to provide high-quality, culturally safe, comprehensive primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families, with a focus on prevention, early intervention, and chronic disease management. The role supports the holistic health and wellbeing of the community in alignment with Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic investigations.
• Develop and implement care plans for patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory illnesses.
• Deliver care that respects and incorporates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural values and beliefs.
• Work closely with nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, allied health professionals, and administrative staff.
• Support community outreach initiatives and health screening events (school health checks).
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, including audits, incident investigations etc.
• Maintain professional registration and meet continuing professional development (CPD) requirements.
• Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.

• Salary of $287,053 per annum (Depending on Experience).

COVID-19 Requirement

• Immunisation history showing you have received two doses of a Covid -19 vaccine is encouraged.

Required

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Specialist Medical Practitioner.

• Fellowship of RACGP or ACRRM.

• Experience working in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health or with underserved populations.

• Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe and trauma-informed care.

• Understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and health issues.

• Excellent clinical diagnostic and decision-making skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

• National Police Certificate.

• Driver’s Licence.

• Evidence of Work Rights.

• Medicare provider Number.

• Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Preferred

• Knowledge of Medicare billing and IUIH System of Care.
• Experience with MMEx.
