The role
As Team Leader Recreation, you’ll lead and support the Recreation Team to deliver exceptional service and engagement across Council’s open spaces and sporting facilities.
You’ll build strong relationships with sporting clubs, associations, schools and community groups, while overseeing the delivery of Active Canterbury-Bankstown – Council’s program of events and initiatives promoting healthy, active lifestyles across our community.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
Lead, coach and develop the Recreation Team to deliver high-quality services. Manage the hiring and use of Council’s sportsfields, passive parks and community land. Oversee community events held on Council land and the management of Council’s Sporting Hall of Fame. Lead the development and delivery of Active Canterbury-Bankstown programs and initiatives. Identify and pursue sport, recreation and facility grant opportunities, supporting sporting groups with externally funded projects. Contribute to concept and master planning for Council-managed community land. Work collaboratively across Council to ensure sporting facilities are maintained to a high standard. Prepare Council and Executive Leadership Team reports and provide advice as required. For a full list of duties, click here to review the position description.
You will have
Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Sport and Recreation or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Demonstrated experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams. Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically. Proven ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships with highly developed interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience within the Sport and Recreation industry. Sound knowledge of theLocal Government Act 1993, Crown Lands Act 1989 and other relevant legislation relating to public land management.
The salary for this position starts from $108,644 (Grade H, Step 1) + 12% super + Car Allowance.
