Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Operation (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.  Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon and leucoxene, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role

Residing in the West Kimberley and reporting to the Supervisor Processing, this is an exciting opportunity for a Process Operator to join our growing mining company, responsible for the safe and effective day-to-day operation of the processing plant.

This role will be required to work within a team environment to achieve key production outputs through the operation of all areas of the processing plant including the Wet Concentrator Plant (WCP), Concentrator Upgrade Plant (CUP) and the Control Room.

Site Based Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off (Bus In Bus Out from Broome or Derby)

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain operating parameters and through puts of the plant from the Control Room
• Observe equipment in a manner that assists maintenance personnel with identifying emerging issues
• Ensure all identified issues are reported to the relevant personnel
• Ensure handover information is clear, concise and includes challenges experienced and solutions implemented during the shift
• Ensure designated area of work is kept clean and free of debris and obstacles through pro-active work environment management

About You

• Based in the West Kimberley (or willing to relocate)
• Hold a current C-Class driver’s licence
• Control room operation experience highly regarded
• Strong attention to detail with a hands-on, proactive approach
• Excellent verbal communication skills, across all levels of the organisation
• Current Working at Heights & Confined Space Tickets, or willingness to obtain
• Ability to operate wheel loader and skid steer would be advantageous.
• Experience in a process, industrial, or operational environment advantageous
