Charles Melton Wines is a boutique Barossa Valley winery specialising in premium red wines since 1984. Located within the small village of Krondorf, we are focused on producing wines with outstanding structure & style.

We have a small, dedicated team of professionals and are seeking a Cellar Door Sommelier to compliment and complete our team. 

The role will be 5 days per week and focus on using their wine knowledge to entertain & educate our guests whilst also managing wine service, selection & pairing for our private customer club members.  Due to the nature of the work, this role requires you to be able to work weekends and public holidays. 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Maintaining & developing relationships with our loyal customer base

• Providing friendly, tailored and knowledgeable service to our guests.

• Use your wine knowledge to entertain and educate our guests

• Conducting highly specialised wine tasting experiences including analysing taste preference and budget parameters of guests

• POS Operations, order placements & packing of freighted orders

• Service of tables (including opening bottles and pouring beverages, removing empty bottles and used glasses from tables, and refilling and replacing glassware).

• Wine selection, procurement, storing, and rotating wine stores

• Assist with training other staff of wine lists and selections.

• Development of wine list and working with our inhouse cook to pair food & wine.

• Completing end of day procedures 
   

To be successful in the role, you will need to possess the following traits: 

• 1 year minimum previous Cellar Door Sommelier experience or relevant Certificate III qualification is required

• Must have an extensive level of knowledge regarding wine, including a large range of varieties and winemaking processes

• Have a current RSA Certificate

• Have exceptional communication skills

• A strong passion for wine

• A strong work ethic, and be self-motivated

• Be customer focused

• Ability to speak additional languages will be beneficial, however, not essential.
