About the role
About Street Side Medics
Street Side Medics is a not-for-profit, GP-led mobile medical service providing primary healthcare to people who are vulnerable or experiencing homelessness. We work alongside established homelessness charities, shelters and community services to help improve access to healthcare for this community.
We currently operate regular clinics across NSW, Victoria and the ACT, with plans to expand into South Australia and beyond. Our clinics operate from well-equipped mobile medical vans and are supported by a dedicated workforce of more than 300 active volunteers.
About the role
We are seeking an organised, people-focused Volunteer Workforce Coordinator to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.
Reporting to the Volunteer Manager, you will support the end-to-end lifecycle of our volunteer workforce, helping us attract, engage, develop and retain a skilled and motivated team of volunteers.
You will work closely with program managers and recruitment stakeholders to support volunteer recruitment and onboarding, coordinate training, maintain compliance and volunteer records, assist with workforce planning and help ensure volunteers are effectively supported and deployed across our services.
A key part of the role will be building positive relationships with our volunteers and helping create an inclusive, supportive and engaging volunteer culture.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting volunteer recruitment and resourcing initiatives.
Coordinating and delivering volunteer training sessions, both in person and online.
Supporting the development and implementation of volunteer management processes and systems.
Maintaining volunteer compliance requirements and accurate workforce records.
Supporting volunteer engagement activities and events.
Maintaining clear and consistent communications with volunteers across the organisation.
Supporting volunteer recognition, feedback and engagement initiatives.
Acting as secondary administrator for the Volunteer Email Account and Volunteer Management Platform.
Regularly attending Victorian clinic sessions as required, including St Kilda, Bourke Street, Dandenong and Geelong.
About you
You will be a highly organised and approachable professional who enjoys working with people and understands the importance of creating a positive volunteer experience.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational and time-management capabilities and experience in a coordination or support role. You will be confident using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and other organisational systems, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Some flexibility is required to occasionally attend evening clinic operations to support our volunteers.
Experience in volunteer coordination, recruitment administration or recruitment resourcing would be highly regarded. A qualification in communications, human resources, health or a related field and a current C Class Driver Licence are desirable but not essential.
What we offer
Flexible work arrangements to support work-life balance, not-for-profit salary packaging where eligible, paid parental leave and the opportunity to work with a small, supportive team while contributing to a meaningful community service.
Street Side Medics values diversity and is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. We welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people of all ages, identities and abilities.
