Finance Manager – Darwin

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to provide the highest standards of accounting and financial services to the internal and external stakeholders of East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC).

What you’ll do:

• Ensure financial management and accounting functions are delivered effectively and in line with all statutory, standards‑based, and organisational timeframes.
• Effectively plan and manage the Finance team, supporting recruitment, aligning staffing with service needs and leave, and ensuring cross‑skilling.
• Drive business process improvement programs and foster a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.
• Consult with stakeholders on key accounting and finance matters, including ledgers, reporting, process improvements, and functional alignment.
• Ensure members of the Finance Team are regularly assessed of their performance and are provided with appropriate support and training.
• Actively participate in professional development, training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements, promoting a safe working environment.
• Undertake other duties as reasonably directed by the Director Financial Services.

What we’re looking for:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or business, or equivalent industry experience.
• Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification.
• Detailed knowledge of Accounting Standards and Australian Tax, Local Government and other relevant legislation and guidelines with the effective ability to incorporate this knowledge in the workplace.
• Demonstrated exceptional corporate and performance reporting experience.
• The ability to interpret Council requirements into clear financial reports, supported by strong Microsoft Office skills and enterprise‑level financial software experience.

• A competitive salary ($137,158.72 - $145,511.71 per year, excluding super), with annual reviews under the Enterprise Agreement
