About the role
Your Role as Mental Health Recovery Worker
The Mental Health Recovery Worker plays a vital role in supporting individuals living with severe mental illness to achieve their personal recovery goals and enhance their wellbeing within the Gold Coast community.
In this role, you will coordinate and deliver individualised, recovery-oriented psychosocial supports and build strong therapeutic relationships to empower individuals to achieve meaningful outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering person-centred, recovery-focused support that promotes independence, wellbeing and community participation.
Completing psychosocial assessments and develop, implement and review individual recovery plans in partnership with participants and stakeholders.
Providing practical outreach, in-home and community-based support tailored to individual needs and goals.
Supporting participants with daily living skills, including building confidence in areas such as budgeting, meal preparation, medication management and social connections.
Conducting risk assessments, provide crisis support and contribute to safety planning when required.
Connecting participants with health, housing, education, employment, community and other relevant support services.
Working collaboratively with families, carers, care providers and multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive recovery outcomes.
Maintaining accurate records, participating in case reviews and supervision, and ensuring practice aligns with relevant legislation, quality standards and recovery-oriented frameworks.

What We’re Looking For
Tertiary qualifications in community, social welfare, health or a related discipline.
Experience working within a recovery-oriented mental health service or community support setting.
A genuine passion for supporting people living with mental illness to achieve positive outcomes.
Sound understanding of recovery-oriented practice and psychosocial support principles.
Knowledge of the challenges and barriers experienced by people living with mental illness.
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!
Experience providing care coordination within a mental health setting.
Understanding of the principles and standards of the Disability Services Act (Qld 2006) and the National Mental Health Standards and how they relate to providing effective and accountable services.
Essential Requirements
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
