About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Fleet/Continuous Airworthiness Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities for the National Jet Express fleet to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational requirements. Key responsibilities include maintaining fleet airworthiness and modification status, monitoring defect rectifications, abnormal events, irregularity reports, reliability data, and audit findings. Additionally, the role ensures the upkeep of the operator’s Aircraft Maintenance Program and Minimum Equipment List (MEL).

If appropriately qualified, the incumbent may be appointed by the AOC holder (CAMO) to issue Airworthiness Review Certificates and/or approve changes to Maintenance Programs for the AOC holder's aircraft.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Support and comply with the requirements of the National Jet Express Safety Management System (SMS) relevant to the position.

• Monitor all maintenance, scheduled and unscheduled, carried out on the assigned Operator's aircraft – to ensure it is in accordance with regulatory and Operator requirements.

• Support Technical Services Airframe Function.

• Produce and gain approval for any required revisions of the assigned Operator's Maintenance Program Manual and Minimum Equipment List.

• Review, produce and approve new and revised Maintenance Task Cards prior to their release for use by the maintenance provider.

• Review and assess technical literature and provide input to the Technical Instruction assessment procedure in respect of aircraft in the assigned Operator's fleet.

• Attend and contribute to the reliability meeting for aircraft in the assigned operator’s fleet.

• Make applications to regulatory authorities for SFP’s or PUS’s of the assigned Operator's aircraft.

• Subject to receiving authorisation– Assess and approve planning requests for one-off Maintenance Program extensions in respect of the assigned Operator's aircraft, in accordance with the procedures for such extensions.

• Subject to receiving authorisation– Issue Pilot Maintenance Authorisations to crew of the assigned fleet (CASR Part 42 Division 42.G.4 refers).

• Subject to receiving authorisation– (under CASR Subpart 42.I) carry out Airworthiness Reviews of the AOC holder's aircraft and issue Airworthiness Review Certificates.

• Subject to receiving authorisation – (under CASR Subpart 42.J) assess and approve changes to the Maintenance Program Manual.

• If nominated as the Maintenance Controller in an Operator's Maintenance Control Manual (under CAR 1988 or PNG Rules) – perform the duties of the position as detailed in that manual.

• Subject to being nominated by the AOC holder, perform the duties of the Airworthiness Standards Manager as requested during any absence of the incumbent for more than 10 working days.

• Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Fleet.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

• Extensive regulatory knowledge suitable for appointment as an Airworthiness Standards Engineer.

• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, preferably in an aviation-related field.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

A minimum of:

• 5 years of experience in responsibilities aligned with this position; or

• 2 years of experience in such responsibilities, with an additional 3 years in civil aviation maintenance.

Continuing airworthiness management experience, including:

• 5 years in this area; or

• 2 years, provided you hold or have held:

• A maintenance certification licence in Category B1, B2, or C; or

• An equivalent licence to Category B1, B2, or C.

Comprehensive knowledge of:

• Regulatory standards and requirements relevant to the role.

• The Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) Exposition and its application to continuing airworthiness.

• Aircraft certification basis, structures, systems, and propulsion systems to at least Level 1 competency as per Appendix III of the Part 66 MOS.

• The aircraft’s Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and Configuration Deviation List (CDL).

• Relevant sections of the AOC holder’s operations manual concerning continuing airworthiness.
