TECHNICAL ASSISTANT (SPECIMEN RECEPTION AREA)

Department:               Specimen Reception   

Laboratory:                  Burnie

About The Role:

• Coverage of leave - both scheduled and short notice, no guaranteed hours

• Receiving, sorting and processing of samples for testing

• Data entry and scanning tasks

• Operation of some laboratory equipment for sample processing

• Liaising with GP practices for urgent sample pick up

• Using laboratory application software

• Apply quality systems & continuous improvement processes

• Maintain clean and safe working environment

Selection Criteria:

1. Proficient and self-motivated

2. Proven ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment

3. The ability to undertake training and direction in the role

4. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow procedural documents

5. Great interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

6. The ability to work as part of a team in a pleasant and co‑operative manner

7. The ability to work autonomously to complete tasks on time

8. Previous laboratory experience will be considered an advantage
