SMSF Accountant – Remote

Are you an SMSF Accountant looking for more ownership, stronger client relationships and the chance to deepen your technical expertise? At Heffron, you’ll manage an established portfolio of SMSFs, work directly with trustee clients and be supported by a collaborative team of respected SMSF specialists.

The Role

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, client communication and delivering high-quality outcomes for trustees. You will:

• Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of SMSFs
• Review work, contribute to quality outcomes and help maintain strong delivery standards
• Manage end-to-end SMSF administration and provide practical, tailored solutions for clients
• Act as a trusted escalation point for accounting and client queries
• Build strong relationships with trustees as their key day-to-day contact
• Share knowledge and support the development of junior accountants

What You Bring

• SMSF accounting experience, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications
• Strong working knowledge of SMSF compliance, accounting and tax concepts
• Experience using Class, or the ability to quickly learn new systems
• A self-managed, collaborative working style suited to a remote or hybrid team environment
• A willingness to share knowledge, mentor others or support junior team members
• A strong client service mindset with excellent communication skills
