Position Overview
This is a full-time position based in Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Reporting to the Home Assessing Team Leader, the Desktop Assessor will manage a portfolio of assigned claims from start to finish. In this role, you will identify the cause of property damage, determine the scope and cost of repairs, and deliver a high standard of customer service throughout the claims process.

Key responsibilities include:

• Completing desktop assessments of insured properties using virtual tools and/or causation reports supplied by specialist providers.
• Preparing comprehensive reports that outline cause, coverage, damage and recommended repair methods.
• Reviewing scopes of work and technical reports to ensure repairs are cost-effective and delivered in appropriate timeframes.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, such as local authorities and third-party building surveyors.
• Negotiating and confirming scopes of work and costings with relevant parties.
• Managing claims end-to-end in collaboration with internal operations teams to meet service, cost and quality expectations.
• Consistently meeting key performance targets (KPIs).
• Submitting documentation, reports and scopes within agreed service levels (SLAs).

What You’ll Bring

• Previous experience within the building or construction industries or home assessment in Insurance required.
• Strong customer service and supplier relationship management capability.
• Ability to perform well in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Experience preparing scopes, quotations or cost estimates.
• Confident and proficient in using technology and digital tools.
