Junior Systems and Support Engineer

About the role

This is a great first or second step for someone that wants to run a real production environment and support a product that makes a difference. Working as a Junior Systems and Support Engineer, you'll be responsible for a range of tasks under the supervision of our CTO and Principal Engineer, overseeing the day-to-day monitoring, support and administration of our corporate and production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administration of AWS production and development environments including scripting of changes through Terraform

• Monitoring production and development environments for performance, security and availability

• Administration of third party SaaS products used by the development and operations teams

• Supporting the development team with incidents, technical issues and troubleshooting, including responding to level 2/level 3 customer technical support and outages

• Administration of MacOS and Linux endpoint fleet/MDM, including key business apps such as Google Workspace and the Atlassian suite

• Management and enhancement of Bitbucket pipelines and deployment processes

• Support production updates and releases of the SaaS FireMapper platform

About you

• An engineering, IT or computer science graduate with excellent results

• Experience working within AWS including services such as RDS Postgres, ECS, Elasticache, EC2, WAF

• Knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, WAN/LAN, routing and firewalls

• Experience with containerised workloads such as Docker

• Familiarity with administration or support of corporate environments including MacOS/iOS/Android endpoints and a range of 3rd party SaaS products such as Google Workspace and Atlassian tools

• Exposure to Git and version control workflows, and tools such as Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket

• Exposure to basic software/scripting tasks such as with Python

• Exposure to Terraform or other similar technologies for managing AWS environments

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Available to work full-time and willing to travel within Australia if required
