About the role
This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP
Statewide Services provides the services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, with a focus on those students and schools that need it most. It encompasses both school and system-facing service delivery.
While it primarily exists to support schools, it also has an important system-facing role supporting strategy and policy development.
The Role
As Principal Consultant, you will working with the Director of Education and based within the Pilbara Education Regional Office in Karratha. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Department’s Two-way Science program and supporting schools across one of Western Australia's largest and most diverse education regions. The Pilbara spans more than 507,000 square kilometres and includes 29 public schools comprising primary, secondary, remote community, district high school, School of the Air and specialist education settings.
This role provides a unique opportunity to work alongside school leaders, teachers, Aboriginal staff, Elders and community members to strengthen two-way learning approaches and expand the establishment of local Aboriginal languages within schools. Supporting culturally responsive curriculum design, you will help schools bring together Aboriginal language and knowledge systems and Western science through authentic co-design and place-based learning experiences.
The Pilbara's schools are at the heart of their communities, serving students with diverse cultural backgrounds, identities and aspirations. Building strong relationships, respecting local cultural knowledge, and fostering genuine partnerships with Aboriginal communities are central to this role. Regular travel across the region will enable direct support to schools and communities, helping advance high-quality, culturally safe and responsive education for all students
This role involves planning and coordinating key activities within agreed timeframes, applying evaluation frameworks to monitor program effectiveness, and ensuring sustainable support for participants and schools. You will also be responsible for identifying and addressing challenges in the program’s delivery, providing expert advice and guidance, and overseeing risk management to ensure smooth and effective implementation.
