About the role
The Saturday Paper is looking for an experienced and highly capable Sub-Editor to join The Saturday Paper team on a part-time basis, working 10 hours per week.
This is an opportunity for an experienced editor who has a strong eye for detail, excellent editorial judgement and a passion for producing high-quality independent journalism.
The Saturday Paper does not condone the use of AI in the production of its journalism.
About the roleWorking closely with the Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief and the editorial team, you will play an important role in ensuring our editorial content is accurate, engaging, polished and independent.Your responsibilities will include:Providing high-quality sub-editing across print and online contentConducting thorough fact checking, including names, dates, quotations, statistics and factual claimsEnsuring content meets Schwartz Media’s editorial standards and styleWorking collaboratively with writers, contributors, and other members of the editorial teamUndertaking other editorial tasks as directed by the Managing Editor or Editor-in-Chief
About youWe are looking for someone who:Has demonstrated extensive experience as a sub-editor or copy editor, preferably in journalism or publishingHas exceptional attention to detail and a strong command of grammar, spelling and punctuationHas excellent fact-checking skills and editorial judgementCan identify structural and narrative issues and suggest practical improvementsIs comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced editorial environmentUnderstands the importance of accuracy, consistency and maintaining a writer's voiceIs collaborative, reliable and able to work independently
Location: Collingwood, Vic / remote work is possibleDays: 10 hours per week across Wednesdays and ThursdaysStart date: From the week of 7th September 2026
