The Role

We are looking for a Trade Assistant/Laborer to join our team in Cairns – Queensland. This role involves performing manual tasks and operating machinery while ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• General cleaning and laboring support across the workshop and yard
• Organising, cleaning and maintaining a safe and tidy workspace
• Pick-up and delivery of workshop equipment
• Safely operating a forklift to move and store materials and equipment
• Supporting the workshop operations to ensure efficiency and workflow
• Picking and packing of mechanical equipment (inward and outward goods)
• Assisting trades such as Hydraulic Technicians and Hose Technicians when required
• Assist with tool store and hire fleet management
• Assist with calibration system for workshop equipment
• Assist with general duties such as procurement, store liaison, job identification, workshop maintenance and clean up
• Assist with routine maintenance and repairs of workshop equipment
• Identify and report problems in processes, systems, or procedures
• Initiate or recommend solutions to problems identified
• Ensure prompt reporting of all incidents
• And any other duties as reasonably required from time to time

Qualifications & Experience

• The successful candidate will possess the following:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role (Essential)
• Valid Australian driver’s license or equivalent (Essential)
• Valid Forklift license
• Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures in the workplace
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions
• Availability to travel to job sites as needed
