Silver Fleece is one of the last fully integrated knitting mills left in Australia. We have been making knitwear here since 1951, and we do the lot under one roof: yarn, knitting, dyeing, cutting, sewing, linking and finishing. We are looking for an experienced Fabric Cutter to join our production team in Bowden, full time.
THE ROLE› Laying and cutting knitted fabrics to production spec › Cutting stripes, checks and patterned knits with accurate pattern matching › Reading markers, patterns and cutting specifications › Laying fabric square, tension free and correctly presented before cutting › Checking for defects, shade variation and faults before and during cutting › Cutting multi layer lays with consistent sizing › Getting the most out of every metre and keeping wastage low › Keeping cut records accurate and the cutting room clean, safe and organised › Working closely with the knitting, sewing and finishing teams to hit deadlines
YOU WILL BRING› Proven cutting experience in garment manufacturing › Real experience with knitted fabric, not just wovens. Knits move, and you know how to handle it › Demonstrated stripe and pattern matching ability › A solid understanding of stretch, grain, tension and recovery › Attention to detail and pride in the finished cut › Reliability and the ability to work to a production schedule › Full working rights in Australia
