Salary: AUD $80,000 – $90,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the Position

Paradiso Bar and Grill is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful applicant will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, presentation, kitchen operations and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Prepare, cook and present dishes in accordance with the restaurant's menu and quality standards.
• Assist with menu planning, recipe development and seasonal menu changes.
• Prepare ingredients, including cutting, portioning, marinating and seasoning.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes, presentation and consistency.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served within appropriate timeframes.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety.
• Follow relevant Australian food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
• Store food appropriately and maintain stock rotation.
• Assist with ordering and receiving food supplies when required.
• Monitor stock levels and minimise food wastage.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and preparation areas.
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
• Assist with training and supervising junior kitchen staff where required.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is prepared safely and consistently.
• Assist with kitchen opening and closing procedures.
• Follow company policies, procedures and operational standards.
• Perform other reasonable duties related to the position as required by management.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a higher relevant qualification is required.
• Relevant commercial cookery qualification recognised in Australia.
• Demonstrated experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for kitchen operations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays where required.

The duties and responsibilities may be varied or amended from time to time according to the operational requirements of Paradiso Bar and Grill, provided they remain within the scope of the position.
