My Room Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology Fellow
Full Time - 1 position
Overview:
The Victorian AYA Cancer Service is a state-wide initiative aimed at improving the delivery of high-quality care for young Victorians diagnosed with cancer.
Embedded within the service, the The My Room Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology Fellow position offers a unique opportunity to gain specialised experience and training in AYA Oncology. The fellowship provides broad exposure in the care of young people across multiple tumour streams including sarcoma, testicular cancer and brain tumours, as well as participation in the AYA transition program. A strong emphasis is placed on developing skills in developmentally appropriate, age‑specific oncological care. The role offers excellent opportunities for AYA specific clinical experience, research, teaching and education. There are also opportunities to lead research and/or quality improvement projects under the supervision of the Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology Leadership Team. The fellowship is open to both paediatric and adult oncology trainees and is suitable to be used for the Paediatric Developmental and Psychosocial mandatory training term or Non-core adult training requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provision of high-quality care to young people (aged under 39 years) and their families across a range of tumour streams including sarcoma, testicular cancer and brain tumours.
· Participate in and contribute to AYA clinical services including the AYA triage meeting, transition and survivorship program.
· Attend and contribute to relevant multidisciplinary meetings (AYA psychosocial MDM, Adult Sarcoma MDM, Brain MDM, RCH solid MDM, and others as appropriate).
· Actively contribute to education of junior medical staff, nursing, allied health and students as appropriate
Opportunities:
· Hands-on experience managing AYA patients independently, supported by expert supervision
· Accredited training toward Development and Psychosocial mandatory requirements for paediatric oncology training (6 months) or non-core adult training requirements
· Opportunity to participate in or lead research / quality improvement projects under the supervision of the Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology Leadership Team
Ideal Candidate:
This position is ideally suited to paediatric or adult oncology advanced trainees with a strong interest in AYA oncology.
