Laboratory Technician
An exciting opportunity exists for a Laboratory Technician to join our Queensland Fertility Group laboratory team based in Spring Hill, Queensland.
Queensland Fertility Group is recognised as one of Australia’s leading fertility providers. Headquartered in Brisbane with six other permanent regional locations (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Gold Coast), QFG is dedicated to providing a range of services and treatments associated with fertility issues to thousands of Queensland couples every year.
We are seeking a person with good laboratory skills, an eye for detail, superb organisational and time management skills and excellent communication skills. You will be working with a dedicated team of Scientists, Nurses and Doctors providing diagnostic and clinical treatment to assisted reproduction patients. Successful applicants will have:
• Australian residency, or possess existing Australian Work visa/approvals
• Year 12 or equivalent (essential) and a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory or biological science (desirable)
• Previous experience within a pathology/medical science laboratory desirable
• Highly developed data entry skills, attention to detail and an exceptional work ethic
The successful applicant must be:
• Motivated, with high attention to detail
• Able to travel between sites if needed, and adapt to changing work environments
• Customer focused with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, clinical and laboratory staff
• The ability to work independently and within a team
What you’ll be doing:
Completion of laboratory and administrative duties associated with both diagnostic andrology and assisted reproduction fertility treatments, including:
Data entry of records including patient treatment cycles and diagnostic procedures
Maintenance of laboratory databases and assistance with quality control
Ordering laboratory consumables, stock control and liaison with suppliers
Collation of data/paperwork to assist with the import/export of cryopreserved samples
Performing semen cryopreservation and preparation of semen for use in assisted reproduction
Performing diagnostic semen analyses, semen cryopreservation and preparation of semen for use in assisted reproduction.
Management of cryotransport and communication & coordination with internal, external and international laboratories
Fortnightly hours and salary are negotiable and will depend on qualifications and previous experience. All applications will be treated as confidential.
