Our Opportunity

Work Location: Perth Office - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people. Ad hoc site travel as required.

Roster: Monday to Friday

Fortescue is building the next wave of innovation in mining, bringing together deep operational capability with artificial intelligence (AI). This role leads the AI strategy and product delivery across mine planning, resource definition and exploration, helping Fortescue make faster, higher-quality decisions from one-week plans through to Life of Mine strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Set and deliver the long-term product strategy and roadmap for AI and software solutions focused on mine planning, resource definition and explorationPartner with planning, geology, exploration, resource development, land tenure, approvals, finance, operations and senior leadersTranslate mine planning, resource definition and exploration workflows, mining constraints and strategic trade-offs into practical product strategiesLead cross-functional teams to deliver decision-support products from concept through deploymentEnsure products are scalable, supportable and integrated into core planning, geological and exploration systems and datasetsManage high-impact planning, resource definition and exploration risks and decisions using OKRs and value modelsHire, develop and lead high-performing AI product teams.

Qualifications And Experience

Experience in mine planning, from short-interval planning through to Life of Mine planningStrong understanding of schedules, reserves and resources, fleet and plant capacity, grade control, blending and haulageExperience or strong understanding of resource definition and exploration workflowsPractical experience with mine planning software, geological models, spatial data and planning data ecosystemsProven experience deploying software, analytics, optimisation, digital or AI-enabled products into operational workflowsExperience leading senior specialists or cross-functional teams and delivering technology-enabled changeAbility to connect mine planning, resource definition and exploration with approvals, infrastructure, finance and corporate developmentKnowledge of Agile, OKRs, design thinking, DevOps or modern product development practicesStrong commercial acumen to quantify planning trade-offs, ROI, production, cost, NPV, risk and optionalityMaster’s degree, MBA or equivalent senior technical, commercial or leadership experience.
