Health Centre Manager

Lead primary healthcare in the heart of Kakadu, combining clinical leadership, community connection and contemporary remote health practice. 

Red Lily Health Board Aboriginal Corporation (RLHB) is an Aboriginal community-controlled health service delivering culturally safe primary healthcare across West Arnhem, with Aboriginal people at the centre of decisions about their health and health services. 

About Jabiru and West Arnhem 

Based in the heart of Kakadu National Park, approximately 250 km (around a three-hour drive) from Darwin, the Health Centre Manager leads a multidisciplinary team from Red Lily's modern, purpose-built Jabiru Health Centre. Jabiru is one of four Red Lily health centres across West Arnhem, alongside Gunbalanya (Oenpelli), Minjilang on Croker Island and Warruwi on South Goulburn Island. Together, our services work with communities with strong cultures, diverse languages and deep connections to Country. 

What you'll do: 

1. Lead and coordinate the delivery of comprehensive Primary Health Care through a multidisciplinary team approach 
2. Manage health centre operations including workforce coordination, visiting services, complex case management, recall systems, and priority health programs 
3. Monitor service performance, analyse KPI data, identify service gaps, and drive continuous quality improvement 
4. Work collaboratively with resident and visiting GPs to support culturally safe, evidence-based care and effective clinical governance 
5. Oversee Medicare claiming and related funding activities to maximise patient access to MBS and eligible health incentive programs 
6. Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and professional development for staff, and participate in the 24-hour on-call roster for acute and emergency care 
7. Ensure compliance with accreditation, clinical governance, and WHS requirements, and oversee health centre resources and pharmaceutical stock 

What we're looking for: 

1. Eligible for AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, with a relevant postgraduate qualification 
2. Extensive experience and demonstrated skills in Remote Area Nursing, with strong understanding of multidisciplinary primary health care delivery in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities 
3. Demonstrated management experience within regional and remote health care settings 
4. Proven ability to lead, supervise, and effectively manage multidisciplinary teams 
5. Demonstrated knowledge of Primary Health Care programs and the legislative, regulatory, and professional requirements governing remote practice 
6. Highly developed interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving, written, verbal, and IT communication skills 
7. Hold, or be eligible to obtain, a current Northern Territory manual driver's licence, and unrestricted rights to work in Australia 

Desirable: 

1. Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, drivers of health inequality, and relevant NT legislation governing work practice 
2. Postgraduate qualification in Public Health / Primary Health Care, or additional certificates in Child Health, Emergency, Midwifery, or Mental Health 
3. Management qualification

About You: 

1. Extensive remote clinical experience in Australian primary health care settings 
2. Proven leadership capability with dispersed and multidisciplinary teams 
3. Confident engaging with community members, Elders, and external stakeholders 
4. Commitment to culturally safe practice and continuous improvement 
5. Willingness to participate in the 24-hour on-call roster and travel to remote communities by 4WD and light aircraft 
6. Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting with strong clinical judgement
