About the role

The Senior Lecturer (Speech Pathology) will contribute to the design and ongoing development of the curriculum to provide speech pathology master’s students with an outstanding learning experience.  The successful candidate will contribute by designing, delivering and reviewing coursework, and providing academic guidance to individuals and groups. The Master of Speech Pathology (Qualifying) admitted its first cohort in 2026 and is undergoing accreditation with Speech Pathology Australia. This position has been established to strengthen the discipline's expertise in adult acquired communication disorders and dysphagia, and to lead curriculum development in adult practice across the program.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver a high-quality Speech Pathology curriculum using lectures, tutorials, demonstrations in person and online.
• Provide curriculum leadership in dysphagia, adult language and speech
• Create and coordinate subject material as part of a team to ensure achievement of learning outcomes, ensuring alignment with SPA professional standards and UNDA graduate outcomes.
• Support student learning through a range of activities including in person and online learning activities, individual and small group support.
• Create authentic assessment approaches that assess real world skills and knowledge and ensuring academic integrity.
• Engage in their own research and contribute to a range of research activities such as applying for grants, presenting at conferences, publications in scholarly journals and recruitment and supervision of HDR students
• Undertake administrative duties and comply with university policies, and procedures.

Qualifications, skills & experience

In addition to the requirements for the Academic Classification Level typically of a Level C that underpin this role, the following apply:

• Possession of a doctoral qualification in Speech Pathology with a focus on adult acquired communication and/or swallowing needs.
• Previous experience in contributing to curriculum development, course coordination and/or program enhancement activities including alignment with Speech Pathology Australia professional standards.
• Significant clinical experience and/or professional standing in a speech pathology setting with adults with acquired neurological conditions and/or dysphagia, and a strong understanding of evidence-based practice and professional standards.
• Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) or eligible for CPSP status
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, show empathy, and foster collegial relationships with students and peers.
• Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary healthcare teams, engage students in active learning, and cultivate a positive, inclusive clinical education learning environment.
