About the role

Flexihire is seeking a qualified Mechanic to join our team in Townsville. Based in Garbutt, this full-time role involves servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a range of diesel and petrol powered vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and identify mechanical faults in a range of hire equipment using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge;

• Carry out repairs and maintenance on our vehicles and equipment, including component replacements, and system servicing;

• Perform routine servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and general maintenance checks;

• Test repaired vehicles and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and operate efficiently;

• Document all work completed, including parts used, time spent, and labour costs;

• Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations;

• Assist with inventory management of tools, parts, and equipment;

What we're looking for

• A recognised qualification in mechanics or automotive engineering, demonstrating formal training and competency;

• Proven experience working with small petrol/diesel engines and equipment;

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work methodically;

• Proficiency in using mechanical diagnostic tools and equipment;

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship;

• Good communication skills and customer service orientation;

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;

• Commitment to health and safety standards and best practices;

• A valid driver's licence (preferred).
