Nursery Hand/Sales Person

Rapley’s Nursery is looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Nursery Sales Assistant to join our team.

This is a permanent part-time position, working 3 days per week plus 1 day every second weekend:

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Every second Saturday: 8:30am – 3:00pm

With the possibility of increasing hours during the week as required.

About the Role

We are seeking a friendly and knowledgeable person to join our family-owned nursery business. This part-time role will see you assisting customers and working alongside our team to maintain and showcase our wide range of plants and garden supplies.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service, answering queries, making recommendations and processing sales

• Maintaining the appearance and organisation of the nursery, including watering, weeding, potting, labelling and maintaining the overall health of our plants

• Assisting with the preparation and set-up of plant displays and retail areas

• Receiving, unpacking and stocking new deliveries of plants and nursery products

• Identifying and managing common pests and diseases

• Putting together customer orders

• Pricing and labelling stock

• Assisting with general office administration and record keeping

• Supporting the team with other general nursery and retail duties as required

What We’re Looking For

• A passion for plants and gardening – this is a must

• Available to work the days listed above – this is a must

• Prior experience in a nursery or retail environment is preferred, but not essential

• Some knowledge of plant identification, with a willingness to learn more

• Ability to identify common pests and diseases

• Strong customer service skills and a friendly, helpful manner when interacting with customers

• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of presentation

• Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling tasks and working outdoors

• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required

• Initiative and the ability to move onto other tasks without needing to be instructed each time

• MR Driver Licence and/or horticulture qualifications are desirable, but not essential
