Barista

About the role

As the face of our café, you will create exceptional experiences for every customer by preparing consistently excellent coffee and providing friendly, professional service. This is an exciting opportunity to join our professional team and help shape a café that is becoming a favourite destination for residents, visitors and the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality espresso-based coffee, including flat whites, cappuccinos, lattes, long blacks, mochas and specialty beverages.

• Steam and texture milk to a consistently high standard.

• Prepare tea, hot chocolate and other café beverages.

• Prepare and serve light meals including sandwiches, toasties, pastries, cakes and cabinet food.

• Deliver exceptional customer service in a warm and welcoming manner.

• Operate POS systems and process customer transactions accurately.

• Maintain cleanliness of the café, coffee machine and food preparation areas.

• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and replenishment.

• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.

• Assist with opening and closing duties and procedures.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage staff, including confidently providing direction and delegating tasks.

• Manage events and gatherings

About you

• At least 3 years of barista experience in a busy café environment.

• A genuine passion for coffee and hospitality.

• Strong skills in espresso preparation and coffee-making techniques.

• Experience steaming and texturing milk to a high standard.

• Experience preparing light café food.

• Experience using POS systems.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• A positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Flexibility to work morning shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.
