Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Working as part of the Engineering team, you will play a key role in the design, development and improvement of electrical systems across Jayco’s product range.

You’ll work closely with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Design and R&D teams to develop practical engineering solutions and support projects from initial concept and prototype through to production.

The role will also provide hands-on technical support to Manufacturing, helping investigate electrical issues, identify root causes and implement improvements that enhance product quality, safety and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve electrical systems, components, wiring and associated electrical architecture across Jayco products.

• Develop practical and innovative engineering solutions suitable for a manufacturing environment.

• Produce and maintain electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications and technical documentation.

• Support new model introductions, prototypes, production trials, testing and validation.

• Provide hands-on engineering support during prototype builds and the implementation of electrical changes.

• Work closely with Design, R&D and Manufacturing teams to ensure electrical designs are suitable for manufacture and assembly.

• Prepare technical specifications and engineering information to support Manufacturing, Planning and Purchasing.

• Provide technical support to Production and other departments relating to electrical systems, faults and engineering requirements.

• Investigate recurring electrical and product issues and conduct root cause analysis to identify appropriate corrective actions.

• Coordinate the implementation and tracking of product and electrical improvements with relevant stakeholders.

• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, product quality, efficiency and safety.

• Manage multiple engineering projects and priorities while maintaining clear communication with key stakeholders.

• Maintain accurate engineering and product data relating to electrical components, purchasing and manufacturing requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

• Experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing, automotive, recreational vehicle or similar product-based environment.

• Sound knowledge of electrical systems, components, wiring, testing and troubleshooting.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and development of practical engineering solutions.

• An understanding of contemporary manufacturing processes and design for manufacture and assembly principles.

• Strong project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• The ability to communicate effectively with production operators, supervisors, managers and other stakeholders.

• A hands-on, self-motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Proficiency in relevant electrical design, CAD and engineering software, with experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD highly regarded.

• Competency with Microsoft Office and relevant engineering documentation systems.

• Knowledge of relevant Australian electrical standards, regulations and compliance requirements would be highly regarded.
