About the role
We’re looking for an intermediate to senior accountant to manage a client base and who is looking for more than just compliance work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with clients and is looking to build their advisory capability over time.

While our head office is based in Townsville, we also have a presence in Mount Isa and are open to remote team members. What matters most to us is finding the right person—location is flexible for the right fit.

What that looks like day-to-day:

• Build strong relationships with a portfolio of clients.  You’ll be a key point of contact, not just working in the background

• Manage the compliance work requirements, guiding and reviewing work from junior and offshore team members

• Work closely with the directors on client strategy and advisory conversations

• Take ownership of your client work, with the support of a collaborative team around you

• Continue developing your technical and advisory skillset as your role evolves

What you’ll be doing

• Managing the compliance work across your client portfolio, including delegating, guiding and reviewing the work of your team

• Finalising financial reports for client delivery

• Managing day-to-day compliance requirements across your client portfolio

• Communicating with the ATO and handling client queries as they arise

• Big picture financial analysis and identifying opportunities to improve client outcomes (cash flow, tax, structure, etc.)

• Supporting advisory work and gradually stepping into more client-facing strategy conversations

• Reviewing and delegating work to junior and outsourced team members

What you’ll bring

• 5+ years’ experience in public practice

• Working towards (or completed) CA/CPA

• Solid technical understanding of tax and accounting for SMEs

• Confidence communicating with clients in a clear, straightforward way

• Experience with cloud-based systems (Xero, XPM, etc.)

• Ability to manage your time, priorities, and client expectations

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior team members

• A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving and client challenges
