Pine Services Group
About the role
Pine is building its finance function in Australia and New Zealand, and this role is the anchor. You'll be our senior accounting leader on the ground — responsible for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting across the businesses we own in the region.
You'll report to our Group Financial Controller, who is based in the US. Day to day, you'll work directly with the finance leads inside each of our Australian and New Zealand businesses: reviewing what they produce, resolving issues before they travel, and delivering one clean, consolidated set of numbers to the US team each month.
This suits someone technically strong who likes owning a region rather than a ledger. You'll be trusted to run it, and you'll have real influence over how we build finance here as the portfolio grows.
Month-end close and group reporting
Own the monthly close calendar across our Australian and New Zealand businesses, making sure each one submits accurate numbers on time
Review trial balances, variance analysis, and income statements before they go to the US team — you're the regional review point
Find and fix reporting discrepancies, classification issues, and cut-off errors at the source, before they become a group problem
Prepare and maintain AUD-to-USD foreign currency translation workpapers under ASC 830 and AASB 121
Audit
Coordinate both the Australian statutory audits and the US group audit for the region — managing requests, timelines, and audit deliverables across every entity
Work directly with local and US-based auditors so fieldwork moves efficiently and findings get closed out
Keep workpapers and supporting schedules audit-ready all year, not just in audit season
Tax and statutory compliance
Coordinate tax compliance across the region — GST and BAS lodgements, income tax returns, and state payroll tax obligations — working with our external tax advisers and the US finance team
Track statutory filing deadlines for every entity in Australia and New Zealand and make sure nothing slips
Working with the businesses
Be the first call for finance leads across our Australian and New Zealand businesses on technical accounting questions, policy, and reporting requirements
Translate accounting issues into plain language for people who don't work in finance, and know which things need to be escalated to the US
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
CA (CA ANZ) or CPA Australia qualified, or equivalent
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including work across multiple entities
Chartered background (Big 4 or mid-tier) is highly valued; audit experience especially
Strong grounding in Australian statutory reporting under AASB, GST and BAS compliance, and payroll tax
Working knowledge of US GAAP — consolidation, revenue recognition, and foreign currency — or clear evidence you can pick it up and work within a US reporting framework
Hands-on with ERP and accounting platforms (Business Central, MYOB, Acumatica, Xero, or similar), and comfortable moving between systems
Detail-focused, with a habit of producing clean, well-organised work
Self-directed and comfortable working across time zones without daily oversight
A clear, confident communicator who knows what to escalate and when
Pine Services Group buys and holds ERP and business applications companies for the long term. We don't flip businesses. When a company joins Pine, it keeps its name, its team, and its identity — what changes is that it gains the backing, systems, and support to grow.
We own companies across the US, Europe, and now Australia and New Zealand, and we're part of Evergreen Services Group. Our job at the Pine level is to be the best possible home for the businesses in our portfolio, which means giving them real support rather than layers of oversight.
Australia and New Zealand is our newest region, and this role is one of our first finance hires here. You'd be shaping how we operate in the region, not inheriting someone else's process.
