Based at Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney in Westmead
The role
This is a casual housekeeping position, with varied days and hours as rostered. Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney operates seven days a week, including public holidays, and provides support to families around the clock.
Reporting to the Guest Services Coordinator, the Housekeeper plays an important role in creating clean, safe and welcoming spaces for families staying at the House. This role is hands-on and includes room turnovers, cleaning guest rooms and shared areas, laundry, restocking supplies, maintaining storerooms, supporting volunteers where required, and helping ensure families can access practical support during their stay. The role involves manual handling and physical activity and requires availability across a seven-day roster. Shift times may vary, with start and finish times to be confirmed.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and turn over guest rooms, ensuring they are clean, safe and welcoming.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness across shared spaces.
Complete laundry, linen, restocking and general housekeeping duties.
Monitor stock and keep storerooms clean, organised and well supplied.
Respond to families with compassion, respect and professionalism.
Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support smooth daily operations.
Follow hygiene, infection control, food safety and WHS procedures.
Promptly report maintenance issues, hazards, incidents or family concerns.
Uphold child safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and respectful care.
Previous housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality, accommodation, health or community services experience.
A strong eye for detail and pride in creating clean, safe and welcoming spaces.
A compassionate and respectful approach when supporting families.
Confidence with cleaning, room turnovers, laundry, restocking and other practical tasks.
A collaborative approach and strong interpersonal skills.
Good organisation, time management and personal accountability.
Understanding of WHS, hygiene, infection control and safeguarding practices.
Availability across a seven-day roster, including weekends and public holidays.
Working with Children Check and Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain.
Current Driver’s Licence.
