Contact Worker

• Role based in City and Redfern Sites | Casual Role
• 2-3 weekend day shifts per calendar month
• Award Rate + Super + Salary Packaging + penalty rates for weekend work

Sydney Children’s Contact Service (SCCS) is a federally funded provider of centre-based supervised visits and changeovers for young children, facilitating contact with their separated parents and family violence. The service uses a child-focused, therapeutic, trauma informed, safety focused, integrated case management model of supervised contact, working with separated families who present with complex needs and high risk.

We’re looking for a Contact Worker who is passionate about supporting families impacted by family separation. While experience in this area is preferred, our supportive and experienced team is eager to help develop a candidate who has experience in a related field, shows a strong ethical approach, aligns with our values, and has a genuine passion for making a positive impact.

About the Role

Some of your responsibilities will be:

• Delivering child-focused, site-based orientations, supervised contact services and supervised changeover services to children and adult family members and completion of detailed observational reports.
• Observe parent-child interaction and support parents to engage in positive, child focused play and activities and to behave in accordance with the CCS Service Agreement.
• Maintain a focus on the safety and wellbeing of clients and their families, underpinned by a thorough understanding of child development, child protection, individual and systemic issues including Domestic and Family Violence.Maintaining a thorough and up to date understanding of the relevant provisions of the Family Law Act (1975) the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act (1998) and other relevant legislation as it applies, and to always operate in accordance of the legislative provisions.
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of practice guidelines and membership requirements of the Australian Children’s Contact Services Association (ACCSA) and comply with Attorney General’s Department requirements
• Complying with clinical governance frameworks and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

About you

To be a successful candidate you will have:

• Tertiary degree in social Worker, Psychology, Counselling or related field.
• Demonstrated capacity and skills to work with adults and children impacted by relationships breakdown, family separation, family violence, mental health issues, and family law processes.
• Demonstrated capacity and skills to provide supervised contact to separated families impacted by high conflict and multiple complex issues including family violence, mental health issues and alcohol and drug addiction.
• Capacity to be flexible and adaptable in response to evolving organisational, legislative and sector priorities and requirements.
• Capacity to fulfill weekend shifts requirements of 2-3 weekend day shifts per calendar month e.g. two Saturdays and one Sunday day shifts per calendar month.
• Capacity to attend group supervision meetings currently scheduled online every second Friday of the month.
