About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced investigator or complaint management or dispute resolution professional to join the University's Student Policy and Integrity Services team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Student Policy and Integrity Services you will play a vital role in managing the assessment, investigation and resolution of complex student conduct cases, including cases involving behaviour misconduct, sexual misconduct, gender-based violence, harassment, discrimination and student safety.

Working as part of a collaborative and highly skilled team the position provides expert advice on the University's student misconduct framework and leads the investigation and resolution of sensitive and complex cases, ensuring processes are fair, trauma-informed, compliant and aligned with the University's standards and legislative obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the assessment, investigation and resolution of complex and sensitive student conduct matters.
• Providing expert advice to academic leaders and key stakeholders on student misconduct policies, procedural fairness, risk management and legislative compliance.
• Partnering with academic leaders and support services to promote student safety and a culture of respectful conduct.
• Driving continuous improvement through policy development, training, trend analysis and preventative education initiatives.

About You

You are an experienced investigator, complaint case management or dispute resolution professional with strong analytical skills, the ability to exercise sound judgement, and navigate complex and sensitive matters with objectivity, professionalism and care. You are a highly skilled communicator who can build trust, manage challenging conversations and deliver balanced, evidence-based outcomes in a fair and respectful manner.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience conducting investigations or managing complex cases within a regulated or policy-driven environment.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply policies, legislation and procedural requirements to support fair and consistent decision-making.
• Highly developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, accurate and well-reasoned reports and case documentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage sensitive or challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy.
• Sound judgement, analytical capability and a commitment to delivering objective, person-centred outcomes.

The ideal candidate will also hold relevant tertiary qualifications in law, social sciences, education, public administration or a related discipline, with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

About the Office of Academic Quality and Enhancement

The Office of Academic Quality and Enhancement is a vital central support service within the Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students). It is responsible for provide technical, compliance, policy and project management expertise across a range of functions, including the University's curriculum governance, information and systems; academic quality assurance, enhancement, and compliance services; educational policy, academic integrity, and governance of student complaints, reviews, appeals and misconduct processes.

Appointment to this role is conditional on the completion of required pre-employment checks and declarations, each of which must be satisfactory to the University.

These include:

• Flinders University will require a current completed Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Gender Based Violence Declaration which is satisfactory to the University. The contract of Employment is conditional upon the receipt of these completed compliance checks. A disclosable outcome will not automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration. Each case will be assessed on its individual merits and relevance to the inherent requirements of the role.
• In addition, it is a requirement of this position that the incumbent maintain a current Working With Children Check which is satisfactory to the University in accordance with the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (SA)
