Our Loud Life
About the role
Casual Disability Support Worker – SIL & Community Access
We are seeking an active, reliable, and hands-on Disability Support Worker to join a small, dedicated team supporting a young man with complex needs who lives independently in his own home in Bargara.
This is a true mentoring and lifestyle support role. We are looking for someone who shares his passions and can actively engage with him in the community, at the gym, and through practical hands-on projects, while promoting his independence, dignity, and quality of life.
About the Role
As a Support Worker and Mentor, you will work alongside the participant to build daily living skills at home and drive social engagement in the community.
Key responsibilities include:
Active Lifestyle Support: Joining and motivating the participant in outdoor fitness, biking, running, and gym sessions.
Hobbies & Creative Projects: Assisting and engaging with the participant in hands-on tasks like barbecuing, woodworking, DIY projects, and console gaming.
Community Access: Providing transport and active support to sporting commitments, community activities, and recreational outings.
Daily Living Skills: Supporting independence with household tasks, budgeting, meal planning, and personal care.
Team Collaboration: Maintaining accurate documentation and communicating effectively with the family and broader support team.
About You
This role is ideal for a support worker who prefers an active, dynamic day over a desk job. The ideal candidate will:
Share an interest in sports, gaming, fitness, running, biking, camping or practical skills like woodworking or fishing.
Be highly physically fit and genuinely excited to participate in gym routines and outdoor activities alongside the participant.
Have experience supporting people with intellectual disability, autism, and complex support needs.
Have experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies and working within Behaviour Support Plans.
Be confident supporting participants with approved restrictive practices in accordance with NDIS requirements.
Demonstrate strong communication, solid boundaries, and great teamwork skills.
Essential Requirements
Current Driver Licence with a safe driving history and a reliable vehicle.
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
Minimum 1 year relevant disability support experience.
100 points of identification.
Ability to work a variety of shifts, including SIL sleepover shifts.
Desirable Qualifications
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Medication Administration competency/accreditation.
Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours and high-support needs.
Employment Conditions
Predictable Casual Hours: Casual positions available with approximately 20 hours per week on offer.
Roster Stability: Enjoy the benefit of a predictable "base roster" similar to permanent staff, providing excellent consistency (please note, as a casual role, hours are subject to operational needs and are not a permanent guarantee).
Competitive Pay: Pay rate aligned with the SCHADS Award (minimum Level 2.3), with higher rates available based on qualifications and experience.
Shift Variety: A variety of shifts available, including SIL sleepover shifts, active daytime support, and relief coverage.
Full Entitlements: Superannuation, WorkCover, QLeave, and all applicable casual employee entitlements provided.
