Senior Finance Business Analyst

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Council’s Finance team sits within the Corporate Performance Directorate and provides expert leadership and guidance to the organisation in all aspects of Council’s finances and end to end financial processes across the organisation including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, rates, valuations, revenue recovery, and financial analytics.

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Senior Finance Business Analyst is responsible for managing a team of business support staff providing business partnering and analytical services to internal customers and Senior Executives across Council. This role is also expected to help maintain the integrity of Council’s financial data, ensuring its accuracy and relevance.

The successful applicant will require:

• Degree qualifications in accounting, commerce, business or finance
• Supervisory experience in a multi-disciplinary, multicultural workplace
• Supervisory experience in Financial business partnering
• Substantial experience in financial reporting and management reporting
• Thorough working knowledge of:
  • Australian Accounting Standards
  • Practices and Industry codes
  • GST Act
  • Local Government Code of Accounting Practice and Financial Reporting
• Demonstrated ability to produce results with high levels of accuracy within set timeframes
• Experience identifying and developing innovative solutions to complex and wide-ranging problems
• Well developed interpersonal skills providing the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external associates

About this role: 

• 1x permanent full-time position
• Working 70 hours per fortnight.
• Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement
• Located at Council's Merrylands Administration Building and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

• Grade 13 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $2,185.39 to $2,513.20 per week, plus 12% superannuation
• The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

• The right to live and work in Australia
• Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
• Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
