Rooted in a proud legacy dating back to the 1940s, The Portsea Camp today is a thriving community of staff, volunteers and young people from across metropolitan and regional Victoria. Each year, we support thousands of children and young people through programs centred on connection, wellbeing, outdoor adventure and trauma-informed care.

Set on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, our team works together with a shared purpose: helping children and young people grow into healthier, happier and more confident versions of themselves.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re on the lookout for friendly, reliable, and hardworking Housekeeping Team Members to join our casual pool and help keep The Portsea Camp running smoothly.

As part of our Housekeeping Team, you’ll play a key role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all campers and guests. From cabins and bathrooms to shared spaces and laundry, your efforts help ensure everyone enjoys a comfortable and positive stay by the sea.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of something that makes a real difference.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Depending on your roster and strengths, you may:

• Perform general cleaning and sanitising of cabins, bathrooms, dining halls, kitchens, and shared spaces.

• Complete group changeovers, restocking supplies and ensuring rooms are ready for new arrivals.

• Support laundry operations—washing, drying, folding, and organising linen and supplies.

• Operate commercial cleaning equipment such as vacuums and high-pressure cleaners.

• Manage rubbish removal and recycling across the site.

• Monitor and report maintenance or safety concerns.

• Collaborate with the wider Portsea Camp team to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive environment for all.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re dependable, proactive, and enjoy being part of a team that works hard behind the scenes to make magic happen.

Essential:

• Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or hospitality (preferred but not essential)

• Familiarity with hygiene and sanitation standards

• Ability to follow cleaning routines and schedules

• Physical capacity to lift up to 10kg and remain on your feet for long periods

• Current Working With Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

• A positive, kind, and team-oriented attitude

Bonus Points For:

• Experience in a camp, hotel, school, or commercial setting

• Confidence working in large-scale changeovers or shared facilities

• A genuine love of helping others and supporting a great cause
