About the role

We are seeking a practical and approachable Safety Officer to support HSEQ compliance across our Urban Development projects. You will spend the majority of your time onsite, working alongside supervisors, engineers, labourers and operators to strengthen safe work practices and maintain the standards already established across the business.

The role suits someone who builds trust with field crews, provides clear and constructive guidance, and takes a hands-on approach to getting issues resolved. You will be expected to identify what needs attention and work with the team to help fix it, rather than simply report the problem.

This role is focused on applying and reinforcing Jaydo’s existing HSEQ systems across Urban Development projects, rather than developing new systems from the office.

Main focus areas

· Onsite HSEQ compliance across the Urban Development division.

· Coaching site teams and engineers to improve safety awareness, planning and day-to-day practices.

Key responsibilities

· Conduct regular site inspections, identify hazards and complete HSEQ compliance assessments.

· Build effective working relationships with field crews and provide practical, respectful safety support.

· Work with site teams to close out identified issues and implement corrective actions.

· Provide HSEQ input into work planning, risk assessments and safe work methods.

· Support the implementation and auditing of existing HSEQ plans, procedures and systems.

· Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis, and assist with actions to prevent recurrence.

· Communicate lessons learned, positive outcomes and key HSEQ messages across project teams.

· Support compliance with Site Environmental Management Plans and Cultural Heritage Management Plan conditions.

· Assist teams to improve work procedures, hazard controls, operational safety and environmental compliance.

The approach we are looking for

· You relate well to field-based crews, including labourers, operators, supervisors and engineers.

· You see safety as a practical service to operational teams and help people achieve safe outcomes.

· You are visible onsite and comfortable spending most of your time in the field.

· You follow issues through to completion and support teams to put practical fixes in place.

· You are confident applying and reinforcing established HSEQ systems and expectations.

· You value a stable, hands-on safety role and take pride in being a trusted long-term support to the Urban Development team.

About you

· Experience in water infrastructure, pipelines, civil construction, urban development or a closely related industry.

· A relevant qualification in work health and safety, with an understanding of environmental and quality requirements.

· Working knowledge of applicable Australian safety legislation and standards.

· Experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to coach and influence constructively.

· A current driver licence and the ability to travel between project sites.

· Flexibility to adjust start and finish times to suit site and operational requirements.

· Comfort using standard computer applications and HSEQ management systems.
