At cape, we're looking for a Cafe Support Coordinator to lead our team of support workers across our five cafes, creating opportunities for people with disability to develop practical hospitality skills, build confidence and achieve their employment goals.

About cape

cape group is a not-for-profit registered NDIS provider supporting people with disability across Melbourne's eastern and northern suburbs. We were formed in April 2025 through the merger of Nadrasca and Brite, bringing together more than 120 years of combined experience. Nepean Centre joined us in June 2026. Monkami Centre joined in July 2026.

That pace is deliberate. We are building an organisation with the scale, capability and ambition to change what disability services look like: better homes, smarter use of technology, stronger pathways, and supports built around each person rather than around programs. The role

The Café Support Coordinator provides operational and people leadership across

cape’s café-based supported employment programs. The role is responsible for supervising and supporting Disability Support Workers, ensuring consistent, high-quality support delivery while maintaining strong café operations, food safety standards, and compliance requirements.  This is primarily a leadership and coordination role. While you will regularly work on-site alongside café teams, your key focus will be leading staff, coordinating operations, strengthening practice and monitoring participant outcomes.

The Café Support Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring café environments operate safely, professionally, and in alignment with person-centred and vocationally focused practice.

The cafe is run by the Support Workers and our Supported Employees.

What you will do

• Lead, coach and support a team of Disability Support Workers and Supported Employees.
• Coordinate rosters and staffing across cape’s café sites.
• Maintain consistent standards in café operations, customer service, food safety and workplace safety.
• Monitor the quality of participant support and strengthen person-centred and vocational practice.
• Oversee participant progress towards individual employment and skill-development goals.
• Manage operational issues, incidents and performance concerns appropriately.
• Work with families, support coordinators and internal teams to achieve positive participant outcomes.

Who we are looking for

Qualifications and Experience 

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Disability, Community Services, Leadership or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing staff within disability, supported employment, or allied environments.
• Strong understanding of NDIS Practice Standards, Positive Behaviour Support, and person-centred practice.
• Sound understanding of café or hospitality environments

Skills and Attributes 

• Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management capability.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
• Confident decision-maker with sound judgement in operational and people matters.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly between sites.
• Be comfortable with change and enjoy working with teams to improve standards and performance.
• Hold a current full Victorian Driver’s Licence.

Employment  Requirements

• Based at Broadmeadows with regular travel to Nunawading.
• Current full Victorian Driver’s Licence required.
• Applicants must hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and obtain a Working with Children Check prior to employment.
• Applicants must have the right to work in Australia and provide evidence of their work rights if requested.
