About the role
About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service. Servicing the communities of Cape York, with the main office located in Cairns, Apunipima delivers public health care, and social and emotional well-being care, to community members. Being a part of the team at Apunipima means helping us deliver essential services as well as building capacity in communities to manage their own health care needs.
The filling of this position is specified. Applicants must provide contact details or a written reference from an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who is willing to support their application.
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Marketing, Communications and Events Officer. It’s a Marketing and Communications role at heart, with a focus on coordinating successful events in Cairns and throughout Cape York. It provides a balance of work in an office environment in Cairns, with opportunities to travel and work infrequently for events involving FIFO and community teams in Cape York. For events, you will contribute to the events calendar and provide planning and coordination for all events run across the organisation, including support for community-led events across our Centres in Cape York. You will also more generally be involved in the development or support of promotional campaigns, occasionally contributing to content development, reports and the general needs of the Marketing and Communications department.
About you:
You’ll bring some experience in creating written and visual content for different audiences, preferably working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander audiences. If you’ve worked with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other content creation tools, and know how to swing a camera, you’ll be comfortable with any content related tasks that are thrown your way. You’re confident in the work and processes involved in running events, and bring some real-world experience of planning and delivering successful events.
No matter your background, your application is welcome. If you feel the skills and experience you have are transferrable to this role, or you’re looking to step-up or upskill, you’ll find yourself in a welcoming and supportive team and I encourage you to apply.
