About The Role

We are looking for a Category Specialist to join our strong Procurement team in Newcastle. Reporting to a Category Manager you will support the execution of Whitehaven Coal’s Procurement strategy and conduct tenders for goods and services at an exciting time for the company. We are looking for strong team players to join our tight knit friendly team culture.

Category ManagementConducting contract negotiationsNegotiating supplier pricingReviewing spend levelsReducing commercial risk for the companyHelping deliver sustainable procurement outcomesOccasional travel to operating sites will be required

What You'll Bring

The successful applicant will possess:

Experience in Procurement, Category management or sourcingStrong negotiation skills and experience leading tendersExcellent analytical skills and attention to detailAbove average computer skills, mainly excel, word and powerpointAn understanding of mining, resources or construction industry is preferred but not essential
