Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (B1)

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) (Queensland Section) delivers essential aeromedical and primary healthcare services to rural and remote communities across Queensland.

Our Engineering team provides 24/7 maintenance and defect rectification support to keep our fleet safe, compliant, and ready to take to the skies.
We're currently seeking a permanent, full-time B1 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) - Line to join our Mount Isa team. Enjoy a lifestyle-friendly roster with minimal call-outs and after-hours work, a structured handover with an experienced RFDS Engineer and ongoing support from our wider Engineering network and Maintenance Watch team. Based in Mount Isa, you'll support our Beechcraft King Air B200 and B300 fleet.

The Role

As a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (B1) - Line, you'll carry out scheduled maintenance and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) defect rectification. Your expertise will be critical to maximising fleet availability, maintaining on-time performance, and supporting the delivery of life-saving healthcare across rural and remote Queensland.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled line maintenance in line with operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot and rectify defects arising during daily operations.
• Participate in the local on-call roster- when required.
• Provide ground support to crews and aircraft.
• Support third-party maintenance requirements as required.
• Maintain safe storage and management of parts, tools, and materials.
• Inspect and rectify Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Who Are We Looking For?
Our Engineers are critical to the RFDS mission, ensuring our aircraft remain safe, compliant, and ready to serve Queensland communities when they need us most. To be successful, you will have:

• B1 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualification.
• Experience maintaining turboprop aircraft, relevant to RFDS fleet types.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Sound knowledge of aircraft maintenance regulations and compliance requirements.
