About us

Men’s Outreach Service Aboriginal Corporation (MOSAC) is grassroots, community-focused Aboriginal organisation based in Broome.

Established in 2001, MOSAC provides family and domestic violence programs and services, men’s health and wellbeing programs, a drop-in service, and life-promotion and suicide-prevention services for children and young people throughout Broome and communities in the West Kimberley.

About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for a male Family and Domestic Violence practitioner to join the Change Em Ways Broome team.

Change Em Ways is MOSAC’s established men’s behaviour change program. The program works intensively with men who have used family and domestic violence to promote accountability, responsibility and respectful relationships, while increasing the safety of women and children.

Based in Broome, the Co-Facilitator will help deliver culturally adapted Change Em Ways workshops in Broome. Occasional regional and overnight travel is a requirement of the position.

This is a full-time, maximum-term position currently funded until 31 January 2026. The program has operated successfully for eight years, and an extension is anticipated subject to continued funding.

Training, mentoring and regular professional supervision will be provided to the successful applicant.

Key responsibilities

• Co-facilitate Change Em Ways Communities group workshops

• Work intensively with program participants to promote safety, accountability, responsibility and respect

• Provide case management to participants as they progress through the program

• Deliver group and individual sessions

• Complete risk assessments and safety plans

• Collect information and feedback to support program monitoring and evaluation

• Participate in debriefing sessions at the end of each workshop day

• Participate in regular professional supervision and reflective practice

• Work closely with other members of the Change Em Ways team

• Liaise with the Cultural Guidance Worker and members of MOSAC’s Cultural Reference Group

• Ensure relevant cultural protocols are followed and program practice is culturally secure within the Kimberley Aboriginal context

• Liaise with community members, service providers and other stakeholders to improve service delivery and participant outcomes

• Maintain accurate and confidential participant and program records

About you

The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate:

• Experience working in family and domestic violence or a related human-services setting

• Experience facilitating group programs or workshops

• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal society, culture and community protocols

• The ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal people, staff and communities

• An understanding of culturally safe, strengths-based and trauma-informed practice

• Experience in, or the ability to undertake training in, Aboriginal family and domestic violence intervention

• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

• The ability to participate constructively in professional supervision and reflective practice

• Experience liaising with stakeholders to improve service delivery and outcomes

• Strong time-management, planning and organisational skills

• Good written and verbal communication skills

• Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, or the ability to undertake training

• The ability and commitment to travel regularly within the Kimberley, including overnight stays

Qualifications and other requirements

• Certificate III in Community Services or an equivalent qualification

• Relevant group-facilitation experience and/or a qualification from a recognised tertiary or training institution

• Current unrestricted C-class driver’s licence

• Current National Police Certificate, or willingness to obtain one

• Evidence of the right to work in Australia
