The Role : As a Data & AI Consultant, you will be a hands-on client delivery consultant responsible for building and implementing Microsoft Data & AI solutions. The role is centred on Microsoft Fabric-based modern data platforms and the production delivery of Microsoft AI, Copilot and agent solutions, supported by Azure and Power BI.
Working under the technical direction of a Senior or Principal Consultant, you will contribute to project inception, technical discovery and solution design, then take ownership of assigned workstreams through build, testing, deployment and handover. Depending on the engagement, you may also deliver analytics, automation and broader AI use cases. Experience with Databricks or Snowflake is advantageous.
Work from our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane offices.Responsibilities :
- Participate in project inception, technical discovery and solution design as part of client delivery engagements.
- Deliver assigned technical workstreams from design through build, testing, deployment, transition and handover under senior technical direction.
- Plan and manage assigned delivery tasks, estimates, dependencies, risks, quality checks and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Project Manager and technical lead.
- Translate agreed customer requirements and solution designs into practical, production-ready outcomes.
- Design and build Microsoft Fabric-led modern data platforms spanning data integration, engineering, lakehouse or warehouse design, semantic models, analytics and production operations.
- Design and build Microsoft AI and Copilot Studio agents integrated with enterprise data and business processes.
- Build retrieval-grounded AI solutions that ingest and analyse enterprise information and produce structured, source-traceable outputs.
- Apply production AI patterns covering prompt and retrieval design, security, human review, testing and evaluation, monitoring, release management and lifecycle support.
- Remain hands-on through prototyping, solution development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation and quality assurance.
- Participate in customer workshops and stakeholder discussions, clearly communicating progress, technical considerations, risks and required actions.
- Work collaboratively, follow agreed delivery standards, contribute reusable assets and continuous improvement, and consistently meet utilisation and client commitments.
Skills/Experience required :
- Recent, relevant experience delivering data, analytics or AI solutions in consulting, professional services or comparable client environments.
- Hands-on experience Microsoft Fabric solutions, supported by Azure and Power BI.
- Modern data platform experience spanning data integration and engineering, lakehouse or warehouse design, semantic models, analytics, deployment and production support.
- Experience building and deploying Microsoft AI and Copilot Studio solutions integrating enterprise data and processes, document processing, retrieval-grounded generation, structured outputs, security, monitoring and support.
- Practical experience with prompt engineering, retrieval design, source grounding and evaluating AI outputs against representative datasets and measurable quality criteria.
- Strong hands-on engineering and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work from an agreed architecture, resolve technical issues and apply production-ready standards.
- Ability to contribute to analytics, automation and AI use cases with a clear focus on measurable business outcomes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good decision making / problem solving skills
- Ability to autonomously manage day-to-day client and technical issues
- Able to build and maintain relationships with customers
- Degree in Information Technology or similar (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of or delivery experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake is highly regarded. Current Microsoft certifications are also highly regarded but not essential.
