Assistant Accountant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance & Administration team. Reporting to the Head of Finance & Administration, you will support a broad range of accounting, payroll and financial reporting activities while gaining valuable experience in management accounting and business operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounting or Commerce undergraduate, or a recent graduate, looking to build a career in finance within a supportive and collaborative environment.

·         Assist with monthly management reporting and financial analysis.

·         Support month-end and year-end close processes.

·         Prepare journals, including accruals and prepayments.

·         Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

·         Assist with payroll processing and payroll reporting.

·         Maintain accurate financial and employee records.

·         Support the Fixed Asset Register, including additions, disposals and depreciation.

·         Process accounting transactions and respond to routine finance enquiries.

·         Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

·         A current or recently completed qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.

·         Sound understanding of basic accounting principles.

·         Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

·         Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving abilities.

·         Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

·         Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.

·         A willingness to learn new systems and develop your accounting and payroll knowledge.

·         Experience in an accounting, finance, administration or customer service role.

·         Exposure to Xero or similar accounting software.

·         Payroll experience (training will be provided).

·         Ongoing training and professional development.
