Inspection Technician / Mechanical Technician – Service Lifting Equipment

About the role

Bob Adams Lifting Pty Ltd is seeking a motivated Inspection Technician to join our growing team in Sydney.

Working within the aviation maintenance industry, you will inspect, test, maintain and repair specialised aircraft tooling and lifting equipment used by leading Australian aviation maintenance organisations (MROs).

This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and working to high quality and safety standards. You'll receive ongoing training, career development opportunities, and work alongside experienced industry professionals.

Key Responsibilities

As an Inspection Technician, you will:

• Inspect, test and maintain lifting equipment and specialized aviation tooling

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to mechanical equipment

• Complete detailed inspection reports and maintenance documentation

• Perform conformance inspections in accordance with company and industry standards

• Use precision measuring equipment and testing devices

• Identify defective equipment and report findings to senior engineers

• Recommend replacement parts and maintain stock requirements

• Complete work orders accurately and within required timeframes

• Receive, store and dispatch customer equipment and warehouse stock

• Maintain accurate traceable records for all inspections and repairs

• Assist with workflow planning and job scheduling

• Support and mentor Trade Assistants and junior technicians

• Participate in risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives

• Travel interstate on occasion (approximately quarterly) to support customer sites

What We're Looking For

You'll be successful if you have experience in one or more of the following:

• Mechanical Technician

• Mechanical Fitter

• Fitter & Turner

• Machinist

• Diesel or Automotive Mechanic

• Engineering Trades

• Lifting Equipment Inspector

• Rigger

• Dogmen

• Crane Operator

• Maintenance Technician

Essential

• Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills

• Minimum 1–2 years' experience inspecting or maintaining lifting equipment or mechanical equipment

• Ability to work independently and manage priorities

• Excellent attention to detail

• Strong written communication and reporting skills

• Current Australian working rights (Permanent Resident or unrestricted work rights)

• Current Forklift License (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

• Trade qualification in Mechanical, Fitting & Turning, Machining, Engineering or similar

• Experience working within aviation, heavy industry or manufacturing

• Experience with inspection or testing equipment
