• Classification: SCHADS Level 1 + Salary Packaging + Superannuation
• Based Mon-Wed Lower North Shore 9:00am – 3:00pm

About Women & Children First

Women & Children First (W&CF) is a not-for-profit organisation providing crisis accommodation and wraparound care for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and abuse as well as parenting and relationship education and prevention programs.

Our two women and children’s refuges and specialist support services are based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore.

Our Programs Prioritise:

• Safety – Providing immediate and ongoing safety through crisis housing and trauma-informed case management and wraparound care.
• Empowerment – Empowering survivors to heal and rebuild through psycho-education programs on healthy relationships, parenting, and wellbeing.
• Prevention – Advocating for change and breaking the cycle of abuse through community and political engagement and education.

About The Role

Reporting directly to the Administration Manager, this role is designed to support the smooth running of our Lower North Shore refuge.

As the Accommodation Officer at our Lower North Shore refuge, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of high-quality accommodation and fostering a safe, supportive environment for women and children escaping domestic violence and abuse. A key aspect of the role is working autonomously completing administration and refuge accommodation duties that contribute to the smooth, efficient, and effective operation of the refuge.

You will be working with a small, experienced team providing vital accommodation and services to women and children fleeing domestic violence and abuse.

The work carried out by Women & Children First is at times very challenging. All staff at the refuge endeavour to provide high-quality services to clients and especially at times of crisis and distress. The position requires empathy and the ability to manage and meet competing demands.

Responsibilities Of Role

• Provide administrative and operational support to the team and Administration Manager.
• Provide practical assistance to clients living in the refuge as directed by the team, contributing to a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
• Act as the primary point of contact for house maintenance and coordinate maintenance requests as needed.
• Assist with refuge set-up, including preparing and restocking rooms and common areas as required.
• Purchase supplies, linen, stationery, food and other items as needed
• Represent the refuge as the designated Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer and support the implementation of WHS practices and requirements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring all information is recorded correctly and completed in a timely manner.
• Observe client behaviour and promptly report any concerns to the relevant caseworker.
• Adhere to W&CF policies and procedures, including Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and the Code of Conduct.

Skills And Experience Required

• Demonstrated experience in office administration
• Demonstrated intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously – to see what needs to be done and do it
• The ability to identify and maintain appropriate levels of privacy and confidentiality
• Knowledge or understanding of delivering welfare services
• Commitment to professional integrity and accountability

Other Requirements

• Must be able to easily travel to Lower North Shore
• Current driver’s licence.
• Current Working with Children Check and National Police check.
