About the role
NightOwl is an Australian owned and operated franchise network who has built a solid reputation in the retail sector for over 50 years. Today we boast over 80 stores, consisting of a combination of traditional convenience and convenience petroleum.
As our HR Coordinator, you'll support a diverse workforce across NightOwl, Think Commercial and The Benson Hotel, gaining exposure to the retail, property and hospitality sectors.
Working closely with the Head of People Operations, you'll be trusted to lead workplace investigations, manage employee relations matters and provide practical guidance to leaders across the business. You'll take ownership of a broad range of people initiatives, including policy development, compliance, Work Health & Safety and organisational projects that support our continued growth and success.
This role offers the best of both worlds, the autonomy to own and manage employee relations matters, investigations and leader coaching, together with the confidence of knowing experienced leaders and external HR advisors are available to provide support on complex or high-risk issues when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead workplace investigations and manage employee relations matters, ensuring fair, compliant and commercially sound outcomes.
Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on performance management, conduct, workplace issues and employment obligations.
Prepare and maintain employment documentation including investigation reports, performance improvement plans, disciplinary correspondence and other case management records.
Develop, review and maintain HR policies, procedures, templates and people resources.
Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring confidentiality and legislative compliance.
Monitor compliance obligations and support audits, reporting and governance activities.
Coordinate Work Health & Safety initiatives, including incident management, corrective actions, compliance monitoring and record keeping.
Support the delivery of WHS training, communications and continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to People Operations projects, organisational change initiatives and process improvements.
Build strong relationships with leaders and stakeholders to drive positive people and business outcomes.
Previous experience in a Human Resources, People Operations or HR role.
Demonstrated experience conducting or assisting with workplace investigations and managing employee relations matters.
Strong understanding of employment legislation, HR practices and workplace compliance requirements.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and professional documentation.
Confidence partnering with leaders and providing practical, risk-based advice.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and sensitive matters.
High levels of discretion, professionalism and attention to detail.
A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of outcomes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using HR systems.
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
