The VIMC contract involves the operation, maintenance and performance management of critical Intelligent Transport Systems, traffic signal assets, communications networks, electrical infrastructure and associated roadside technology across live traffic environments. 

The maintenance workforce plays a critical role in keeping the road network safe, reliable and operational for the travelling public. Works are performed across metropolitan and regional Victoria and include planned maintenance, fault response, emergency works, inspections, repairs, testing and restoration of traffic signals and ITS assets. 

About the role

The Traffic Signals / ITS Maintenance Electrician is a field based role responsible for safely maintaining, fault finding and repairing electrical and technology assets in live road environments. The role requires strong electrical capability, practical fault finding skills, safety discipline, reliability, accurate record keeping and the ability to work as part of a rostered maintenance team, including after-hours and emergency response where required. 

About you 

• Current Victorian A Grade Electrical Licence, White Card (Construction Induction Card), and a valid driver's licence. 
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault response, ideally within transport infrastructure, utilities, construction, or field services environments. 
• Hands-on experience maintaining traffic signals, ITS assets, communications equipment, signal controllers, detectors, lanterns, pedestrian facilities, and roadside electrical infrastructure. 
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, technical instructions, site layouts, and work orders, with strong troubleshooting capabilities. 
• Strong commitment to safety, including experience working in live traffic environments and the ability to identify risks and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
