Bridges Health & Community Care Ltd is proud to deliver the Regional Reset program, part of the Queensland Government’s Making Queensland Safe plan funded by the Qld Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support. BHCC’s Regional Reset catchment area includes the Wide Bay region (Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Bundaberg with outreach to the North Burnett).

Regional Reset supports young people aged 8–17, who are at risk of entering the justice system due to anti-social behavior, disengagement from school and/or adverse life circumstances, such as poverty or family dysfunction which puts them at risk of misadventure or crime.

The program will offer up intensive support for the young person and their family, and a "Reset" camp component to enhance skills in making good choices and identifying positive support networks and resources in their local community.

The Position

Bridges is seeking to employ experienced youth mentors to assist in the delivery of the Regional Reset program for youth ages 8 – 17 funded by the Queensland Youth Justice & Victims Support.

We have identified positions for First Nations’ cultural workers who identify as traditional owners/custodians of the Wide Bay region and generalist youth mentors with relevant experience working with young people at risk.

Mentors are the primary point of contact for young people, but their work is embedded within a team structure that ensures continuity, safety, and accountability. Mentors receive regular supervision, participate in reflective practice, and are supported by staff in managing risk and delivering services aligned with the individual’s support plan.

The roles are full time, the salary range for these roles are from $40.49 per hour to $43.42 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Regional Reset Program – Bundaberg, QLD.

The Regional Reset Program is a trauma-informed, culturally grounded initiative funded by the Qld Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support under the Making Qld Safer Plan.

The program is designed to stabilise young people, reconnect them with family and culture, and support positive pathways back into the community.

This is a place-based, holistic model offering flexible, culturally safe reset pathways, namely - short-term intensive live-in support and creative and structured group programs – meeting diverse needs and readiness levels of young people aged 8 – 17 years old.

Regional Reset will divert young people from their high-risk environments and provide an opportunity for respite and to reset relationships, behaviours and attitudes.

The Program is intended to help young people demonstrating high-risk behaviour (such as substance abuse, aggression or truancy) and their family by providing a short stay of one to three weeks, as well as mentoring and therapeutic supports for a period pre and post stay.

The program will focus on education, self-control, counselling, training and employment skills that include community volunteering, cultural activities, skills, adventure and sport.

The Program will provide culturally responsive engagement with young people and their family or guardian/carer where appropriate. Services will provide short-term aftercare to embed learnings for both the young person and family, as well as support warm referrals to community-based supports to address ongoing needs.

Key requirements of the Program:

·         Targeting young people who require a higher level of care than community-based programs can provide, who are moving quickly toward a life of crime. 

·         Providing young people with the life skills, structure, and self-control they need to get back on track before they become repeat offenders.

·         The “Reset”, a short stay live-in intensive intervention usually in group settings.
