We’re looking for a strong Sous Chef to join our kitchen team..

We’re a busy café with a big focus on good food, consistency and a solid kitchen culture. We’re looking for someone experienced who can get stuck in, run a busy service and help keep the kitchen running smoothly.

We care about the food, but  we also care about the people behind it. We want to  build a kitchen culture where people take pride in what they do, look after each other and genuinely give a sh** about the place they work.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll be cooking, running service, organising prep, leading the team and helping maintain the standards we expect. We need someone who can take responsibility, make good decisions and be someone the team can rely on.

We’re looking for someone who:

Has solid Sous Chef or senior CDP experience

Is confident running a busy service

Can lead a team and communicate well

Takes real pride in their food and their workplace

Has a strong understanding of consistency, quality and presentation

Is organised, reliable and switched on

Takes initiative and doesn’t need to be constantly told what to do

Is calm under pressure and can keep the kitchen moving

Keeps a clean, organised and professional kitchen

Is happy to get stuck in wherever needed

Has a good personality and contributesvpositively to the team

Cares about the people they work with and the environment they work in

Wants to keep learning and improving

Wants to be part of building something, rather than simply clocking in and out

Shows attention to detail

Most importantly, we want someone who genuinely wants to be here.

We’re looking for someone who will buy into what we’re trying to build at Recess — someone who takes ownership, cares about the details and wants to be part of a team that holds itself to a high standard.
